RFID technology supporting production. The case history in the footwear world.

In Porto Sant'Elpidio, in the Marche region, you'll discover one of Italy's numerous footwear districts. Here, small and medium-sized enterprises showcase Italian craftsmanship to the world, elevating it to an art form.

Numerous companies provide tools and machines in support of the production. For example, our client, a company with over 30 years of experience, manufactures and sells sole-making machines (B2B). The operator inserts the template in the machine based on the type of sole to be produced.

This apparently easy operation can often be a source of error, leading to delays or production waste. Our client wanted to provide a solution to identify the inserted template univocally, facilitating the operator’s work and thus preventing errors.

The challenge to overcome was to provide an RFID tag that could withstand high temperatures, production acids, and be readable even when applied to metal moulds. We supplied approximately 150 tags inside a suitable container placed on the template, with enough distance to allow for reading.

Moreover, we supplied the readers to apply to the machines to identify the inserted mould.
